BASKETBALL
BTPS Basketball is a dynamic CCA dedicated to fostering resilience, respect and passion for the game. Officially established in 2022, the CCA attracts pupils looking for a supportive and growth-oriented sporting experience. We pride ourselves on creating an inclusive CCA where players of all backgrounds and skill can thrive. With the school’s new Indoor Sports Hall, we are able to provide a great learning and playing environment to the players.
We believe that resilience and respect are fundamental values both on and off the court. We encourage our players to develop mental toughness, perseverance, and the ability to overcome challenges. Through rigorous training sessions, intense competitions, and a supportive team environment, we instill a resilient mindset that helps our pupils reach their full potential. We also emphasize the importance of respect in all aspects of the game. Our players are taught to respect their coaches, teammates, opponents, referees, and the game.
FOOTBALL
Our Football CCA is named the BTPS Invictus Football Club. ‘Invictus’ means unconquered in Latin. While there is always a winner and a loser in football, we remind ourselves that we are winners when we are gracious, when we give our best and when we do not give up. For every game, every practice session, we live up to our motto to “Never Surrender”.
We instill the values of discipline, commitment, sportsmanship and camaraderie during training. We focus on building up good character in the members and ensure that our selection for the school team takes into account character and values.
This year, our Senior and Junior boys team participated in the National School Games. Our Senior team played in the Qualifying round of the West Zone competition and made it to the 2nd round. They achieved 8th position. They also participated in the Assumption English School Challenge Cup where they came in second. Our Junior boys played in the National School Games and qualified for Tier 1 and eventually came in second in the group at the end of the tournament.
RUGBY
Rugby is a sport that evokes images of fierce battles on the field. It showcases the epitome of physicality, skill, and unyielding determination. At its core, rugby is a game of strategy, teamwork, and controlled aggression. Played with an oval-shaped ball, the sport demands a delicate balance of power, agility, and precise execution. From the adrenaline-pumping scrums to the daring tackles, every moment on the rugby field is an opportunity for players to showcase their skills and push the limits of their abilities. One of the distinguishing features of rugby is its inclusivity. However, rugby is more than just a physical battle. It is a sport that instills values and virtues that extend beyond the boundaries of the field.
Bukit Timah Primary School’s rugby team, also known as Highlander, has been around since 2012. Through the years, our rugby boys have been exposed to many opportunities to display graciousness, respect, resilience and sportsmanship, during National School Games and Rugby Ready Clinic.
WUSHU
Wushu is a captivating sport that combines grace, power, and agility. It is an art form that has been practiced for centuries. It encompasses a wide range of techniques, including kicks, punches, and acrobatics. Pupils are introduced to the fundamentals of Wushu, which include mastering basic stances, learning routines and understanding the philosophy behind this ancient practice.
In Bukit Timah Primary School, we would like to students to develop physical coordination and instill essential values such as discipline, resilience, and teamwork by practising Wushu. It is also a CCA that embraces cultural diversity and offers a unique platform for pupils of all backgrounds to come together to experience the beauty of Wushu.
