Wash Our Hands!

Washing our hands is the best way to stop germs from spreading and a school-wide programme was initiated to teach our students the proper steps in hands washing. This initiative compliments the school’s efforts in raising awareness for personal hygiene and social responsibility.

 Fruittie Veggie Bites
Introduced by Health Promotion Board, Fruittie Veggie Bites (FVB) has been an annual programme in BTPS since 2007 and it is well received by our students and staff. Aimed at encouraging our students to consume the daily recommended servings of vegetables and fruits, FVB rewards students who purchase fruit and vegetables in the school tuckshop with a card. Students then consolidate their cards as a class effort and the class with the highest fruit and vegetable intake wins a prize.

Project CARL (CArry Right Load)coming_soon_2.gif
Project CARL is a new health initiative, following many observations and reports on young students carrying heavy school bags. Newly introduced in 2009, it aims to monitor and keep our parents informed of their child’s bag carrying habits. A survey was carried out in Term 1 to assess the situation and based on the findings, a structured programme will be rolled out in Semester 2 for P1 – P3 students. Watch this space for more updates!

As part of developing our students holistically, Health Ambassadors will be identified to further empower and give them an opportunity to be heard.

Regular meetings will be scheduled to train and meet our Health Ambassadors, so that they may exert a greater influence on the health needs of their peers and families. In addition, Health Ambassadors get to participate in the planning and review of school health programmes, making health programmes more relevant to our students’ needs.
